Career Downfalls PART 1

Rahul Roy
Rahul Roy made his acting debut in Aashiqi in 1990. The film proved to be a blockbuster, Roy became an instant star. Unfortunately Roy’s career went downhill soon after. Aashiqi was Roy’s only hit film. None of the films released after Aashiqi were successful critically nor commercially. Rahul Roy’s acting was panned by critics, and soon after his career was doomed with flops. By 1992 Rahul Roy was completely finished.

Bobby Deol
Bobby Deol’s stardom was extremely shortlived compared to his father and elder brother. Bobby made his acting debut in 1995 with  the film Barsaat which was a huge hit and Bobby became a star. Two years later in 1997 he starred in Gupt, the film was a major critical and commercial hit. He began to appear in more films, he released two films in 1998, Kareeb and Soilder both of which proved to be box office hits. However soon after Bobby began to sign films, in which he was typecasted and from 1999 to 2001, Bobby released five films that were unsuccessful at the box office. In 2001 he starred in Ajnabee which did very well, and after giving out three films that were box office disasters, he delivered Humraaz which was a hit and earned him a nomination for best actor, but from 2004 to 2013 Bobby starred in a number of films but only a few were successful at the box office. None of which starred him as the lead role.

Akshay Khanna
Akshay Khanna is a straightout one movie wonder. Akshay made his debut in 1997 with the film Himalya Putra which was a critical and commercial flop. He made his second appeareance as a supporting actor in blockbuster Border, which earned him many awards and accolades and his populatriy skyrocketed. However his next six films in which he was the sole lead, Mohabbhat, Aa Aab Laut Chalay, Doli Saaja Ke Rakhe Na, Laawaris, Kudrat, and Dahek all failed at the box office. He made a comeback in Taal in which he played a pivotal role was a major critical and commercial success. He also played a supporting role in Dil Chata hai which proved to be successful. He played a solo male lead in Love u Hamesha which was a box office disaster. His negative protrayal in Humraaz brought critical accailm and also proved to be a commercial success. But Akshay had gotten a reputation of a flop hero, because he had no hit film in which he was the lead. Akshay starred in a number of films there after but only a few multistarrer films were moderately successful. He is a crtically accailmed actor, but not a successful solo hero.

Aftab Shivdasani
Aftab Shivdasani was a former child star. In 1999 he made his adult debut in Mast which proved to be successful critically and commercially. He received critical accailm in 2001 playing a negative role in Kasoor. Aftab was one of the future stars of tommorow. In 2001 he released two more films Love Ki Liye Kuch Pe Karge which was a success and Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbhat which failed. In 2002 all of Aftab’s four movies failed miserably at the box office. In 2003 he delivered a hit film Hungama, but other releases were disappointments. From 2004 to 2012, Aftab starred in 23 films, all of which failed to well at the box office and were declared flops. During this time he attempted to try his luck as a producer in Aao Wish Karien in which he played a lead role, but the film became a mega disaster. Recently Aftab has earned minor box office success in 1920 Evil Returns in 2012. Lets hope things turn around.
